Manuscript, in a single hand, with numerous annotations, of Lawrence's account of the East India Company's military actions in India from 1750 to 1754. He explains the political situation in the Carnatic, in Deccan, including the political motivations of Mohammed Ali and his rival, Chanda Sahib, for the governorship of the Carnatic. Much of the narrative focuses on the fighting between British and French troops who had each allied themselves with one of the opposing Mughal princes, with descriptions of battles at Trichinopoly, Bahur, and Golden Rock. The manuscript begins with an address to "Sir," in which the author apologizes that his style savors more of the soldier than the historian, and concludes with the cessation of arms between Britain and France in 1754, and a description of the island of Seringham.
